Last week against the Philadelphia Eagles, cornerback Deonte Banks was seen visibly pulling back from a scrambling Jalen Hurts. He was close enough that with a little effort, he clearly could have made the tackle. It’s not the first time this season that Brian Daboll has had to have a conversation with Banks about his effort, yet Banks is still getting the start on Monday.
Effort matters. Banks, and the rest of the Giants, cannot afford to give up on any play at any point in any game. The first step to getting a win, in any sport really, is with effort. That’s how these players got to where they are in the first place. If Banks, or anyone else, gives up on plays on Monday, he needs to be benched. Immediately.
