The Detroit Pistons have opened the 2024-25 NBA season with three consecutive losses, continuing the struggles that plagued them last year. After defeats against the Boston Celtics, Cleveland Cavaliers, and Indiana Pacers, concerns are rising among fans and analysts.
Despite the rough start, Malik Beasley is not panicking. The guard, who is averaging 13.5 points on 41.7% shooting, believes the team is on the brink of turning things around.
“We might be 0-3, but we’re right there,” Beasley said, as reported by Omari Sankofa II. “I’m not just saying that because I’m here. I’ve been through struggles in the NBA. The camaraderie is there, and the compete level is there.”
The Pistons finished the 2023-24 season with a franchise-worst record of 14-68. This marked the second consecutive year they held the worst record in the league.
Last season, the Pistons experienced a historic 28-game losing streak. This marked the longest single-season losing streak in NBA history, contributing to their winless month in November 2023. The 0-15 record in that month added to the team’s frustration.
Despite the setbacks, the franchise has been working on player development and team chemistry. Beasley’s contributions on both ends of the court will be vital for the team’s success moving forward.
