Kristaps Porzingis is set to make his 2024-25 NBA season debut tonight as the Boston Celtics face the Los Angeles Clippers.
According to NBA insider Shams Charania, the Latvian returns to action five months after undergoing surgery to repair a torn medial retinaculum in his left leg.
The 29-year-old center has been sidelined since the Celtics’ championship-winning run last season, where he played a pivotal role despite battling injuries.
His return adds firepower to a Boston team currently sitting second in the Eastern Conference with a 14-3 record.
In his first season with the Celtics, Porzingis averaged 20.1 points, 7.2 rebounds, and 2.0 assists in 29.6 minutes per game.
He also earned Eastern Conference Player of the Week honors and was instrumental in helping Boston secure its record-setting 18th NBA championship.
Boston has managed a strong start this season despite Porzingis’ absence, relying on Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown. His return bolsters an already potent lineup and provides additional rim protection and floor spacing.
