UFC fighter Colby Covington has criticized Los Angeles Lakers star LeBron James for his past association with Sean “P Diddy” Combs, as the music mogul faces serious criminal charges.
Covington, known for his outspoken nature, took aim at James during a recent interview, questioning the NBA superstar’s attendance at Combs’ infamous parties.
Covington asked, “I want to ask LeBron what does he mean by ‘There’s no party like a Diddy party’? I truly want to know and not only that. LeBron, how many Diddy parties have you actually been to? I’m really curious to know. Is that the reason you left social media because of all the backlash? It’s pathetic.”
“People think this guy’s a role model, wants to defund the police, the most patriot people of America serving and protecting our country. LeBron, you’re a f*cking scumbag and I hope you get locked up in the same cell with Diddy,” he concluded.
The criticism comes after a resurfaced video from an Instagram Live session four years ago showed James speaking highly of Combs’ events. In the clip, James remarked, “Ain’t no party like a Diddy party,” a comment that has since drawn scrutiny following Combs’ arrest on charges of racketeering and sex trafficking.
Combs is accused of orchestrating a network of abuse through his extravagant parties, which often attracted high-profile celebrities. Allegations against him include coercing underage girls and women into sex work and other forms of abuse. In September 2024, Combs was arrested by U.S. Homeland Security investigators, and he remains detained after being denied bail due to concerns about witness safety.
While Covington’s comments sparked debate, James has yet to address either the accusations or the resurfaced videos. The timing of the video’s reappearance has placed James under a microscope.
Combs’ legal troubles have reignited public interest in the culture surrounding his high-profile parties. Multiple lawsuits have been filed against him, with allegations dating back more than a decade. Former Bad Boy Records artist Dawn Richard and ex-adult actress Adria English are among the accusers, both claiming they were victimized at Combs’ events.
James, widely regarded as one of the most influential athletes of his generation, has largely maintained a clean public image. However, his silence regarding the resurfaced video has led to speculation about his past connections with Combs.
