Aaron Wan-Bissaka may well leave Man United this summer, with a move to Galatasaray reportedly close.
Manchester United are in a place where they have to sell players before they can spend major money, with the transfer kitty thought to be somewhat tighter than it has been in recent years.
INEOS and Sir Jim Ratcliffe are trying to curb the overspending, with money set to be spent far more wisely this time around.
Sales of fringe players could offer Erik ten Hag more room for manoeuvre and one player who falls into that bracket is Aaron Wan-Bissaka. Although the Englishman played 30 times last season, there’s always been a feeling that he isn’t the right fit for the Dutch manager.
Now, Turkish reports from BeIn Sports believe the 190-appearance Reds man is all set to leave Old Trafford.
According to their latest information, the 26-year-old’s exit from United is ‘nearing completion’, with Galatasaray making progress in the hunt to sign the right-back.
BeIn Sports state that ‘great progress’ has been made during the ‘bargaining process’ for Wan-Bissaka, whose current deal runs out in 2025, meaning Galatasaray may well get themselves a bargain here.
This feels somewhat risky by United. They’re already light in the full-back areas, while we’ve seen Wan-Bissaka lock down some of the best attacking players in the game over the last few years. He’s a reliable defensive option, though that lack of attacking output was always going to cost him his place at the Theatre of Dreams.
One thing I will say, with respect to Galatasaray, is that he deserves to be playing at a higher level than that.
