Two months ago, we released our national preseason Top 10. A lot has occurred nationwide since then, especially amongst teams in the Baltimore and Philadelphia private schools. This could be one of those transitional seasons, and it is going to be a wild ride for the next 10 weeks.

1. New Canaan (Conn.) 0-0
The Rams have two non-conference opponents to start the season, including Rye (N.Y.) tomorrow
2. South Huntington St. Anthony’s (N.Y.) 2-0
The Friars start with road wins at Wantagh (N.Y.) and Uniondale Kellenberg Memorial (N.Y.); a showdown against No. 1 New Canaan lurks on April 13th
3. Charlottesville St. Anne’s Belfield (Va.) 8-0
Head coach Carrington King has had this team in the ascendancy for the last three or four years, and this might be the most promising team he has ever coached
4. Darien (Conn.) 0-0
The Wave begin their season next Sunday hosting Brooklandville St. Paul’s (Md.) in a rematch of last year’s classic one-goal thriller at U.S. Lacrosse HQ
5. Bethesda Stone Ridge (Md.) 5-1

This could be the team to watch in amongst the private-school ranks nationwide. The team showed out early with a win in a friendly at McDonogh, and has done great work thus far in 2024. Lone loss was to St. Anne’s-Belfield on March 16th
6. Newtown Square Episcopal Academy (Pa.) 8-0

The Churchwomen had enormous wins over Owings Mills McDonogh (Md.), Washington St. John’s College (D.C.), and Alexandria St. Stephen’s/St. Agnes (Va.) this week. is this a team which could ascend to No. 1?
7. Garden City (N.Y.) 3-0

Trojans got by good Bayport-Blue Point (N.Y.) and East Setauket Ward Melville (N.Y.) sides this past week
8. Owings Mills McDonogh (Md.) 4-1

Eagles lost two Sundays ago to Episcopal Academy; the game to watch for this team is April 13th at Darien
9. Manchester (Md.) Valley 4-0

Mavericks won the 4 Causes 4 Champions tournament with a 10-9 final over Sykesville Liberty (Md.). Freshman Taylor Fique had the game-winner on a goal with six seconds left
10. Brooklandville St. Paul’s (Md.) 6-1

The Gators’ true measure will come this Sunday with the road match at Darien (Conn.)
