Man United are said to have eyes on Lecce full-back, Patrick Dorgu.

Manchester United have made drastic improvements to the first-team squad this summer, with the Red Devils making a handful of important signings.

The Old Trafford club still have work to do, with preparation for next summer no doubt already underway. INEOS will know exactly what’s required, assuming Erik ten Hag remains in charge.

Among the most pressing needs is a reliable left-back. With the utmost respect to Luke Shaw, he always picks up injuries and United have to think about replacing him sooner rather than later. Tyrell Malacia hasn’t played in eighteen months.

According to HITC, young Patrick Dorgu is a name who is on the list. This article was written a few days ago and we missed it at the time, so we’re a little delayed bringing you the information.

According to their sources, United are said to be ‘watching’ the 19-year-old full-back, who currently plies his trade for Lecce.

Tottenham Hotspur are also said to be keen on the teenager, who turned down a move to Chelsea this summer.

The young Dane enjoyed a breakout campaign for the Serie A club Lecce last term, also earning international caps as a result, playing alongside the likes of Rasmus Hojlund and Christian Eriksen.

HITC state that a whole host of ‘big-hitting’ clubs are now glancing at Dorgu, as he begins to catch the eye.

While Shaw is still around, this is the sort of move that makes complete sense. Dorgu can settle into his new surroundings slowly, dipping in and out of the team as and when the Englishman needs a rest or is injured. Obviously, the long-term view would be for Dorgu to replace Shaw.

It may prove tough to beat out some of the competition, though…

Do you think a Man United move to sign Patrick Dorgu would make sense? Let us know your thoughts in the comment box below.
