Abdullah Mason vs Luis Lebron lightweight showdown highlights Shakur Stevenson-Artem Harutyunyan card
Lightweight phenom Abdullah Mason will take center stage this Saturday, July 6, at Prudential Center in Newark, New Jersey.
Mason’s eight-round bout against Puerto Rican veteran Luis Lebron has been elevated to the ESPN-televised main card, a four-fight blockbuster headlined by WBC lightweight world champion Shakur Stevenson returning home to defend his belt against Artem Harutyunyan.
O’Shaquie Foster will defend his WBC junior lightweight world title against Brazilian Olympic gold medalist Robson Conceição in the co-feature, and lightweight contender Keyshawn Davis will take on Mexican puncher Miguel Madueño in a 10-round special feature.
Stevenson-Harutyunyan, Foster-Conceição, Davis-Madueño, and Mason-Lebron will be broadcast live on ESPN, ESPN, Deportes, and ESPN+ at 8:30 p.m. ET/5:30 p.m. PT.
Mason (13-0, 11 KOs) has been pegged as a pound-for-pound star of the future since turning pro under the Top Rank banner in November 2021.
The southpaw slasher has won three straight bouts by knockout, including a second-round blitzing of Jose Cardenas last November on the undercard of Stevenson’s decision victory over Edwin De Los Santos.
The fresh-faced 20-year-old last fought in April and broke down Venezuelan puncher Ronal Ron en route to a fourth-round stoppage.
Lebron (20-5-1, 13 KOs), an 11-year pro, has never been knocked out and has won two straight fights.
