In a ceremony held by the Philadelphia 76ers on Friday, the team paid tribute to its legendary player, Allen Iverson, by erecting a statue in his honor on Sixers’ Legends Walk.
Iverson, moved by the gesture, expressed his profound gratitude and disbelief at the recognition bestowed upon him. “This is such an honor, man. It don’t even feel real,” he said, per Noah Levick.
During his tenure with the Sixers, Iverson etched his name in NBA history as one of the most electrifying players of his generation.
In 2001, he led the team to an unforgettable NBA Finals appearance, where Philadelphia lost to the Los Angeles Lakers.
Iverson’s impact extended beyond his on-court accolades, as he became a cultural icon and inspiration to millions around the world.
His MVP season in 2001 solidified his status as one of the greatest players in Sixers history, earning him a place among the franchise’s legends.
