Amad will not be partaking for Ivory Coast during the international break following an issue.
Manchester United have had well-documented injury issues under the Erik ten Hag regime. Whether it’s just bad luck or something more remains unknown.
Sadly, those problems are not slowing down. According to The Athletic, United attacker, Amad Diallo, is the latest to fall foul. He has withdrawn from Ivory Coast international duty.
The Athletic state that the 22-year-old is dealing with an illness, though he will now return to Carrington for further assessment on the problem.
Amad is now the fourth player to pull out of international duty, following Alejandro Garnacho, Noussair Mazraoui and Kobbie Mainoo, as the treatment table woes continue to worsen.
The young winger was enjoying a breakthrough season before the international break, contributing heavily to the United attack. Dare I say he has been the brightest spark for the Red Devils so far this season? Probably.
I’d hope that the issue isn’t very serious, particularly as it’s described as an illness rather than a muscle problem. Though the fact that United now want to assess the problem does leave me a little concerned.
I guess we’ll just have to wait and see. We will not hear anything concrete on this front from the gaffer until about a week from now, when he’s conducting his pre-match press conference for the Brentford game.
Perhaps we’ll see some training photos early next week and fingers crossed Amad is involved in those. We’re certainly going to need him over the hectic winger period.
