Andre Onana has won his first ever Man United Player of the Month award.

Manchester United’s month of March was incredibly mixed. There were some decent results and performances, mixed in with some absolute shockers, too.

The Red Devils progressed into the FA Cup semi-final with a massive match at home to Liverpool. However, ground was lost in the top four race after some poor defeats in the Premier League.

Alas, the show must go on. The club always name a Player of the Month regardless of how things went. This time around, it goes to a goalkeeper which is never really a great sign…

Andre Onana has been handed the award, with the shot-stopper all-smiles with his trophy. This is the first time he has won United’s Player of the Month, following in the footsteps of David de Gea, who consistently picked up this trophy.

I’m delighted to see Onana getting some of the respect that he deserves. He had a poor start to life in Manchester, though it’s brilliant to see the man from Cameroon fronting up to those struggles and now performing at a high level.

Saves. Leadership. Passion. Command of penalty area. Onana does have all the attributes to stake his claim as one of the best in the business. No doubt this latest accolade will allow the confidence to keep flowing for the ex-Inter man.

Hopefully, the form can continue through to the end of the season. Judging by our defensive injuries, we’re going to need it!

Congratulations, Andre!
