The Atlanta Vibe built their lead over Omaha second-place to two games in the loss column with a 25-17, 21-25, 25-16, 25-18 victory Saturday over the Supernovas.
Also Saturday, the Grand Rapids Rise bolstered their hold on third place with a five-set win over the Vegas Thrill.
Sunday, the San Diego Mojo play Orlando Valkyries. Orlando is in fourth place at 7-9, a game up on San Diego (6-8) in the battle for the fourth and final playoff spot.
There are no matches Monday. Tuesday, Grand Rapids goes to Atlanta and Wednesday, Columbus is at Vegas.
ATLANTA TOPS OMAHA: The Vibe (15-4) won their league-best sixth in a row and took their third victory over the Supernovas (11-6) in four meetings.
Five Atlanta players had 10 or more kills, 21 by Leah Edmond. She hit .372 and 10 digs and four blocks, three solo. Member-Meneh Leketor had 13 kills, an ace, 13 digs and two blocks, one solo. Anna Lazareva, who had 12 digs and seven blocks assists, had 11 kills, and Shelly Fanning and Magda Jehlarova had 10 each. Fanning had an ace, three digs and six blocks, one solo. Jehlarova had an ace, an assist, four digs and eight blocks, three solo. Setter Marlie Monsere had 56 assists, 11 digs, three block assists and a kill. Libero Morgan Hentz had 16 digs and four assists.
Omaha’s Jess Schaben-Lansman led the Supernovas with 11 kills, an ace, an assist, eight digs and two solo blocks. Bethania De La Cruz had 10 kills, seven digs and two blocks, one solo. Brooke Nuneviller and Tori Dixon had nine kills each. Nuneviller had nine digs, while Dixon two digs and seven blocks, four solo.
GRAND RAPIDS EDGES THRILL: The Rise (8-8) built a 2-0 lead and then had to rally to beat the Vegas Thrill (5-12) 25-23, 25-21, 21-25, 22-25, 15-9.
Emiliya Dimitrova led the Fury with 21 kills and Claire Chaussee had 20. Dimitrova added an ace, eight digs and five blocks, two solo. Chaussee had 12 digs and six blocks, two solo. Kayla Caffey had eight kills, an ace, two assists and 14 blocks, six solo. Setter Ashley Evans had three aces, 53 assists, eight digs, a kill and three blocks, one solo.
Vegas had four players with 10 or more kills, 16 by Khat Bell, who had 12 digs and four solo blocks. Hannah Maddux had 11 kills, five digs and six blocks, three solo, and Berkeley Oblad and Layne Van Buskirk had 10 kills each. Oblad had an ace, three digs and 12 blocks, four solo. Van Buskirk had two aces, two assists, two digs and six blocks, four solo. Setter Alisha Childress Glass had an ace, 46 assists, nine digs, two kills and 10 blocks, five solo.
