New Orleans Pelicans forward Brandon Ingram has signed with Klutch Sports Group, the agency led by Rich Paul. The move positions the 2020 All-Star as one of the most prominent free agents in the upcoming offseason.

ESPN’s Shams Charania first reported the signing, which comes as Ingram’s future with the Pelicans remains uncertain. The 27-year-old, who is in the final year of his contract worth $36 million, was unable to secure a contract extension or trade during the offseason.

Ingram, currently sidelined with right calf soreness, has been averaging 22.9 points, 5.8 rebounds, and 5.4 assists this season.

By joining Klutch Sports, Ingram aligns with one of the most influential agencies in basketball. Klutch represents high-profile players, including LeBron James, Anthony Davis, and Draymond Green. The agency’s track record of securing lucrative deals and endorsements bodes well for Ingram as he navigates free agency.

Ingram’s signing also reflects a shift in his priorities off the court. Previously represented by Excel Sports Management, the forward now joins a group known for its strategic positioning of athletes both financially and in terms of team fit.

Drafted second overall by the Los Angeles Lakers in 2016, Ingram has steadily grown into a star. After being traded to the Pelicans in 2019 as part of the Anthony Davis deal, he earned Most Improved Player honors and his first All-Star nod in 2020.

The Pelicans face a critical decision regarding Ingram’s future. With a core that includes Zion Williamson, the franchise must weigh the financial implications of retaining both stars. Ingram’s move to Klutch Sports could signal his readiness to explore all options in free agency.
