Bronny James’ jersey from his NBA Summer League debut has sold for $38,400 at auction, significantly exceeding initial estimates, per Brooks Peck of The Athletic.
The jersey, auctioned by Sotheby’s as part of their “Summer League Selects” collection, was expected to bring between $6,000 and $10,000.
James wore the jersey during his debut game on July 6, 2024, where the Los Angeles Lakers faced the Sacramento Kings and lost 108-94. He scored four points on 2-for-9 shooting in 21 minutes of play.
In comparison, the debut jersey of 2024 No. 1 pick Zaccharie Risacher sold for $3,360, while No. 3 pick Reed Sheppard’s first jersey with the Houston Rockets went for $15,600.
Notably, a jersey worn by LeBron James in a November 15, 2023 game sold for $42,000 in the same auction, just $3,600 more than Bronny’s Summer League jersey.
The auction also featured Victor Wembanyama’s Summer League debut jersey, which sold for $62,020 last year. Wembanyama’s regular season debut jersey later sold for $762,000, surpassing initial estimates.
The high auction price reflects James’ strong market value due to his family name and public attention.
