On Friday’s episode of “Get Up,” Monica McNutt shared her thoughts on the WNBA Rookie of the Year competition. Unsurprisingly, she favored Angel Reese over Caitlin Clark. However, it was her flawed logic that sparked a response.
According to McNutt, voters must consider team records when deciding on the award. “My rookie of the year is going to go based on the standings,” said McNutt. “And the Sky right now are in the playoffs. So, you’d have to give the nod in my mind to Angel Reese.”
Firstly, Reese’s team, the Sky, has fewer wins this season (seven) compared to Clark’s team, the Fever (eight). The distinction lies in the number of games played: the Fever have played 21 games, holding a .381 win percentage, whereas the Sky have played 19 games, with a .389 win percentage.
Anti-Caitlin Clark ESPN pundit says Angel Reese should win Rookie of the Year because she won more games than Caitlin Clark.
A) that’s not true
B) that’s not how the award works
C) this person is only on TV to hate on Caitlin and make it about race.https://t.co/I8qpegkUsx— OutKick (@Outkick) July 5, 2024
