Man United have won the race to sign Chido Obi-Martin, with a medical now pencilled in.
Manchester United have made two senior signings this summer, with the Red Devils looking to ensure Erik ten Hag is given the best possible chance at success for the coming season.
The Red Devils are now in a position where they have to sell before they can buy, though the Old Trafford club can also continue to move for some younger talents – particularly those that come without transfer fee.
Now, Football Insider have provided an update on the Reds’ move to sign Chido Obi-Martin; the highly-rated striker who left Arsenal this summer.
According to FI, it’s good news for United. A medical is set for this week, with United now saved to have reached a ‘full agreement’ over the signing.
Sources say Ob-Martin has accepted a ‘magnificent’ offer from the Old Trafford club, despite the fact that Arsenal also offered the striker a contract. He believes the Reds offer a better pathway into the first-team.
Ruud van Nistelrooy is said to have played a key role in the move to bring Obi-Martin in, directly talking to the striker in order to convince him to move to the Theatre of Dreams.
The Reds had to fight off heavy competition to acquire this signing, staving off some of Europe’s elite sides in order to convince the Dane to choose Old Trafford as his next destination.
This has the potential to be an unreal business in the long term. Yes, Obi-Martin will need time to settle and grow, though he’s now in the best place in the world to do just that.
With United yet to know exactly what they’ll get from Joshua Zirkzee, and Rasmus Hojlund seemingly picking up consistent injuries, perhaps the young striker will be given opportunities sooner than we all think.
