Erik ten Hag is reuniting with Matthijs de Ligt and Noussair Mazraoui.
Manchester United completed the signings of the former Ajax players from Bayern Munich on Tuesday.
De Ligt finalized his transfer after joining on a five-year contract that includes an option for a sixth season. Mazraoui agreed to a deal until 2028, with an option for a further campaign.
The 25-year-old De Ligt joins in a deal reportedly worth an initial €45 million, plus €5 million in add-ons. Mazraoui’s transfer is worth an initial €15 million, according to transfer insider Fabrizio Romano.
“As soon as I heard that Manchester United wanted me, I felt an excitement about the opportunity for a new challenge at such a historic club,” De Ligt said in Manchester United’s official statement.
“In the conversations that followed, I was impressed by the vision that the football leadership set out and the role they saw for me in it.
“Erik ten Hag shaped the early stages of my career, so he knows how to get the best out of me, and I cannot wait to work with him again. I know what it takes to succeed at the highest level, and I’m determined to continue that record at this special club.”
De Ligt has won league titles in three different countries after spells with Ajax in the Netherlands, Juventus in Italy, and, most recently, in Germany with Bayern in 2023.
Mazraoui lifted four league titles at Ajax and one with Bayern. The 26-year-old right-back is expected to fill the void left after Aaron Wan-Bissaka joined West Ham United.
“Erik ten Hag played an important part in my development as a player, so it is exciting to be reuniting with him as I enter the prime years of my career,” Mazraoui said. “I know what he expects from his players, and I will give everything to help the group be successful.”
