Dennis Schroder came to the Brooklyn Nets at the trade deadline last season. Schroder has one season left on his contract, but hopes his time in Brooklyn continues long past that.
“I want to be in Brooklyn long-term. Hopefully that works out,” Schroder said in an interview with Andscape. “I want to be a veteran who shows the young people the way and how we should play and how we play as a team. I understand that the NBA is always more individual, but I want to make one team like we had in Atlanta where it was about just winning and really not [caring] who scores.”
Schroder is under contract for this season at just over $13 million, before he’ll be an unrestricted free agent next summer. With the Nets rebuilding and prioritizing cap space and future flexibility, it’s unclear where they stand on Schroder as part of the long-term plans.
