The New York Giants (2-11) are going to ride with Drew Lock at quarterback this Sunday when they face the Baltimore Ravens (8-5) at MetLife Stadium.
Head coach Brian Daboll told reporters that Lock’s status was “health permitting” and he was currently undergoing an MRI for a “couple of things.”

JMS getting an MRI, looks ok. QB Drew Lock getting an MRI as well, says he’s sore from a couple of things “don’t have the results just yet”— Madelyn Burke (@MadelynBurke) December 9, 2024
Lock left the field for one play on Sunday against the Saints but finished out the game. Jon Runyan was replaced by rookie Jake Kubas and Tyler Nubin came out of the game several times.
Both Runyan and Nubin had played every snap this season this coming into the game.
The injury list keeps growing for a team that is playing practice squad-level players in starting roles on both sides of the football.
On Sunday, the Giants had just one healthy captain in uniform — long snapper Casey Kreiter — as many key players were either on injured reserve (IR) or unable to dress this week due to injury.
The Giants have four games remaining, all against teams with real postseason hopes. They will be playing with their second and third stringers at many key positions.
Is this a “soft tank” by the team, or is it just the state of things? Might be a little of both. There is nothing left to play for and there’s no sense in rushing injured players back onto the field if they aren’t 100 percent.
