Erling Haaland is quick, but nobody in the Premier League covers more ground walking than the Manchester City striker.
Haaland has been among the fastest players this campaign, reaching speeds as high as 35.7 kilometers per hour (kph), according to a study conducted by BBC Sport and Opta.
Only three Premier League players have clocked higher speeds for their respective clubs than Haaland, with Tottenham Hotspur’s Micky van de Ven registering a league-high 37.1 kph. The Dutch center-back was also the fastest Premier League player last season, as well as the quickest at Euro 2024.
Top 10 fastest players at each club
Player | Club | Top Speed (kph) |
---|---|---|
Micky van de Ven | Tottenham | 37.1 |
Carlos Forbs | Wolves | 36.6 |
Anthony Elanga | Nottingham Forest | 35.9 |
Erling Haaland | Manchester City | 35.7 |

Cameron Archer | Southampton | 35.5 |
Pedro Neto | Chelsea | 35.4 |
Yankuba Minteh | Brighton | 35.4 |
Mohammed Kudus | West Ham | 35.3 |
Surprisingly, Manchester City’s Kyle Walker, previously considered one of the fastest players in the league, is the 80th quickest.
The study only ranks the quickest players for each club, so Van de Ven’s Spurs teammate Timo Werner misses out despite registering the same speed as Haaland.
But Haaland, the Premier League’s leading scorer, knows how to pace himself. He’s walked 28.2km this season, nearly a kilometer more than the league’s second-highest stroller, Max Kilman of West Ham United.
Perhaps the tactic has helped Haaland open the season with 10 goals in seven Premier League games.
