Man United are being made to wait for Mason Mount to return, with his problem taking longer than initially expected.

Manchester United Football Club have been dealing with major injury issues ever since Erik ten Hag took charge, leading us to believe that there is more to it than just bad luck…

Perhaps no player epitomises the treatment table woes more than Mason Mount. He was a big-money signing twelve months ago and we’ve barely seen him in action…

The Englishman was ruled out for the majority of his debut campaign, while his second season has started in similar manner. Time and time again the midfielder plays for a couple of games, before picking up a fresh problem that rules him out for multiple weeks.

Mount hasn’t played in a month now after suffering what was initially a minor injury. Now, Ten Hag has confirmed that the United star is out injured for a ‘bit longer’ than initially expected. He will miss the Fenerbahce game this evening…

Check out what the gaffer had to say in full here:

“I think a bit longer [to wait for Mount], that’s what we expected,” said Ten Hag, per ManUtd.com. “I think he will be back soon.”

The good news is that he is expected back ‘soon’, though Ten Hag refused to put an exact date on when the former Chelsea man will be fit enough for selection…

That unreliability is never good. Particularly for a man who cost an awful lot in terms of both transfer fee and weekly wage.

At what point are we allowed to panic in regard to Mount? He is injury prone. I think that much is clear at this stage. It’s a shame because I genuinely thought he’d be an excellent signing for the Old Trafford club. Though it hasn’t worked out that way at all and I’m now seriously concerned that he’s going to be considered a flop before long.

It must be super tough for the player himself to take, too. He won’t want that label to be placed on him, while he’ll be more frustrated than anyone about the situation. However, he has proven to be super unreliable for the first eighteen months of his Old Trafford career and fan patience is certainly wearing thing.
