Man United are genuinely interested in signing Milos Kerkez from Bournemouth.

Perhaps Manchester United have too many gaps to plug in one transfer window, though you can bet that Erik ten Hag, Dan Ashworth and Sir Jim Ratcliffe will give it a good go – despite money being limited.

Several positions need addressing, including left-back. On the face of it, you look at Luke Shaw and Tyrell Malacia being great options. However, both were injured last season, leaving United extremely short in that area.

As a result the club could look to make a signing at left-back this summer. The latest on that front comes from Give Me Sport and Fabrizio Romano, who once again link Milos Kerkez with a possible Reds transfer.

According to the Italian journalist, United’s interest in the Bournemouth left-back is ‘genuine’, with the 20-year-old among a number of options the Old Trafford side are looking at.

As things stand, United are waiting to see if any other signing options arise in the left-back position before making their move.

Kerkez enjoyed an impressive Premier League campaign for Bournemouth last season, earning his place in the Serbia squad for EURO 2024 as a result. This is a young man who will only improve playing with better quality of player around him and I fully understand why United would be keen on bringing him in.

The verdict on Milos Kerkez

It would make sense. It’s hard to ignore a left-back signing this summer, given the substantial issues in that area of the field last season. Kerkez would allow the club to become younger and more consistent at a massively important position in the modern-day game.

If the price is right then I can absolutely see the logic behind this move.
