Top Brazilian side Flamengo are looking to sign Facundo Pellistri from Man United.

It’s widely accepted that Manchester United Football Club may have to sell players before they can buy this summer. Erik ten Hag could be limited to a minuscule £35m budget before outgoings, which isn’t anywhere near enough to make any major moves.

With the European Championships now in full flow, I honestly expected it all to go pretty quiet on the transfer front, when in fact, the opposite is happening.

Journalist Sebas Giovanelli has provided an update on the future of Facundo Pellistri, who has been on the fringes of the Reds first-team for a few years now.

According to his information, top South American side Flamengo ‘wants to sign’ the 22-year-old this summer.

Pellistri spent the second half of the 2023/24 season on loan at Spanish side Granada, scoring twice, as he went in search of regular playing time.

Check out Sebas Giovanelli’s X post on the news here:

United could look to bring in a new right-winger of some description this summer, with names like Michael Olise linked with filling that gaping hole in the squad. Hence, it could make sense to move on from the man from Uruguay as his playing time could only decrease further. You also have to remember that Amad is now back fit and looking to make his mark at the Theatre of Dreams, too.

While it feels like Pellistri hasn’t necessarily had a fair crack at the whip, I’ve always felt he’s probably a level below what United need. As an impact player of the bench late in games he could do some damage, though that’s probably as good as it would get for him here in Manchester.

If Pellistri is dead-set on playing regular football, then a move away is in his best interests. I’d personally like to see him stay in Europe and play in one of the top five leagues, though I do understand the lure of moving back to South America.
