Man United will be unable to call on the services of Harry Maguire, who is out for a few weeks through injury.

Manchester United Football Club limped to another draw last time out, in a game against Aston Villa. The Red Devils played better than they had done in previous games, though as an attacking threat, the Old Trafford side were toothless.

Defensively, United looked assured and solid in the first 45, as both Jonny Evans and Harry Maguire proved their worth to Erik ten Hag. Sadly, though, at half-time, United would lose the Englishman to what looked like a serious injury.

Now, the BBC have confirmed that the United star will be out for a ‘few weeks’ with Maguire taking to Instagram to share the news. United’s treatment table woes continue as we enter into the international break.

At the time, it looked like a bad one. Maguire could barely walk off the field on his own accord and you instantly knew it could have been a longer-term problem. Perhaps a three-week lay-off is the best case scenario.

This is why United signed both Matthijs de Ligt and Leny Yoro this summer. Depth at the centre-back position is key, particularly if we’re going to pick up injuries in that area of the field constantly.

Although Maguire isn’t a guaranteed starter these days, he’s a top class player who has never let Ten Hag down and matches will be tougher without him fit and available. I’m glad United didn’t let him leave this summer as I’d honestly say he has been better than Lisandro Martinez to start this campaign.
