The NBA revealed today that the Atlanta Hawks have been penalized with a $100,000 fine for breaching the league’s Player Participation Policy, related to the absence of Trae Young in the team’s Emirates NBA Cup matchup on November 12 against the Boston Celtics at TD Garden.
After conducting a thorough investigation, which included an evaluation by an independent medical expert, the NBA concluded that the Hawks’ decision to hold Young out of the game violated the established medical guidelines set forth in the Policy.
According to the league, Young was capable of participating in the game, but the team’s actions disregarded the Policy’s standards, which are designed to ensure player availability and enhance participation throughout the NBA’s regular season.
