Anthony Joshua vs Tyson Fury could happen next, AJ revealed
Anthony Joshua (28-3, 25KO) stated that he and long-time British rival Tyson Fury (34-1-1, 24KO) could finally fight in early 2025, providing they both come through their next fights unscathed.
Watford’s Joshua, a two-time world heavyweight titlist, challenges IBF World champion Daniel Dubois on September 21 in Wembley Stadium, and Morecombe’s Fury has a rematch booked with Oleksandr Usyk on December 21 in Saudi Arabia for the WBC, WBA, WBO, IBO world heavyweight titles.
Speaking to Queensberry Promotions, AJ revealed, “We might see Tyson Fury and Anthony Joshua enter a ring in collaboration with Riyadh Season here in London.”
He added, “But he’s got his hands full, so have I. Let’s both do our jobs and we’ll see a positive 2025, I’m sure of it.
“Because, as we know, the people that are listening wanna make good things happen.”
34-year-old AJ is the bookies favourite for his forthcoming fight with Dubois, where he is currently unbeaten at the England national stadium.
35-year-old Fury has a chance to reverse his only defeat to Usyk just days before Christmas, the same man who beat AJ twice in 2021 and 2022. Fury was narrowly defeated on a split decision, with a 10-8 score in round nine proving the difference on the scorecards.
The showdown between these two British behemoths has been almost 10 years in the making. In a perfect scenario, Fury will win his rematch to collect the unified world titles and AJ will win the IBF belt, with the pair coming together for what will be the biggest undisputed bout in British boxing history.
