With a flurry of state championship finals from Thursday through yesterday, the American domestic girls’ lacrosse season has come to a close. It closes with the Friars of South Huntington St. Anthony’s (N.Y.) at No. 1 thanks to a Murderer’s Row of non-league opponents as well as taking care of its business in the parochial state championship tournament in New York.

What you see below is our back-of-the-envelope survey of the 10 best teams in the nation. This list will be the basis of our final Top 50 to be compiled next month. And the Top 10 below are not guaranteed to be in the same order..

1. South Huntington St. Anthony’s (N.Y.) 19-0
SEASON COMPLETE: Friars bested Hempstead Sacred Heart Academy (N.Y.) 13-6 in the New York State Catholic High School Girls’ Athletic Association final
2. Olney Good Counsel (Md.) 21-0
SEASON COMPLETE: The Falcons topped Washington St. John’s College (D.C.) in the final of the Washington Catholic Athletic Conference postseason tournament; Good Counsel finishes an outstanding season scoring a Mount Hebron-esque 18.5 goals per game
3. New Canaan (Conn.) 21-1-1
SEASON COMPLETE: Won the CIAC Class LL Tournament with a 10-5 win over Darien for the second win over their Fairfield County rivals in less than a month
4. Charlottesville St. Anne’s Belfield (Va.) 22-1
SEASON COMPLETE: Saints won the VISAA Tournament with an 8-6 win over Alexandria St. Stephen’s/St. Agnes (Va.)
5. Brooklandville St. Paul’s School for Girls (Md.) 16-5
SEASON COMPLETE: After losing four games in April, the Gators put it all together in the postseason, defeating Owings Mills McDonogh (Md.) 7-6 in a thrilling final
6. Denver Colorado Academy (Colo.) 19-0
SEASON COMPLETE: Mustangs beat Boulder Fairview (Colo.) to win its ninth consecutive CHSAA state title
7. Glenelg (Md.) 17-1
SEASON COMPLETE: Gladiators won MPSSAA Class 2A final with 13-3 win over Centreville Queen Anne’s (Md.)
8. Newtown Square Episcopal Academy (Pa.) 14-4
SEASON COMPLETE: Won PAISAA championship with a 9-6 win over Rosemont Agnes Irwin (Pa.)
9. Cold Spring Harbor (N.Y.) 17-4
SEASON COMPLETE: The Seahawks beat Adams South Jefferson (N.Y.) 12-5 in the NYPHSAA Class D final
10. Sayville (Conn.) 21-0
SEASON COMPLETE: Won NYSPHSAA Class C championship with a 9-5 win over Rye (N.Y.). It was the program’s first state championship
