A week ago, I wrote about the players who were missing from some important competitions this summer in both field hockey and women’s lacrosse.

One of the figures I cited was Mackenzie Allessie, who has not been in the U.S. outdoor national team’s plans for a while, despite leading the team in scoring at the 2019 Pan American Games. But yesterday, she was on the short-list of players for the U.S. senior women’s national indoor team, which is building towards participation in next year’s FIH Indoor World Cup.

Allessie is a great addition to a skilled lineup which includes the likes of Annika Herbine, Abby Burnett, Opal Sparling, Melea Weber, Samantha Goin, and wunderkind Reese D’Ariano. She’ll also be like a second coach on the field, since she’s also taken on the job of head coach of Division I St. Francis University.

Given the amazing skills that she has exhibited on the large field over the years, as well as her scoring ability, I think she’s going to do just fine at the World Cup.
