Weigh-In Woes and Mind Games

  • Kambosos: 134.25 lbs: Looks like he took off a took off a ton of weight.
  • Lomachenko: 134.9 lbs: Made a Hollywood entrance, cruising in late and totally relaxed. You could tell Loma has been there many times.

Lomachenko (17-3, 11 KOs) arrived fashionably late for the weigh-in, but it wasn’t a big deal. He said he’d been sitting in his room for the last ten hours. He and Kambosos had a long face-off similar to their extended one during the final press conference.

Kambosos (21-2, 10 KOs) is trying to unnerve the former three-division world champion Lomachneko to gain an edge, but that tactic is useless.

It only works on lesser fighters and not against a super-talented fighter with way more experience than Kambosos. The weak attempt at intimidating Lomachenko was a bit silly.

Kambosos: The Underdog with a Lot to Lose

‘Ferocious’ Kambosos has lost twice in his last three fights, and he’s got a lot to prove to the fans. He needs to show them that he’s not the washed-up one-hit wonder that fans think he is.

The odds are stacked against Kambosos, and that’s why he was so nervous today, chewing gum rapidly during the face-off with the smiling Lomachenko. Kambosos is going up against the master, and he seems to know that he doesn’t stand a chance.

“It shows my preparation. I’m ready for a fight. I’m ready for a war tomorrow. Lomachenko bring it on. I’m ready,” said George Kambosos after weighing in successfully today ahead of Saturday’s fight against Vasily Lomachenko for the vacant IBF lightweight title in Perth.

“It’s sold out. Kambosos does it again. Sold out. Victory. I don’t have anything else to say. Victory,” said Kambosos when asked if he has anything else to say.

“I don’t think he had trouble making weight, but it could be a sign. Fighters grow old overnight,” Shawn Porter said about Lomachenko being a little late at the weigh-in.
