LeBron James has dubbed the 2024 Team USA as “The Avengers” following their gold medal victory at the Paris Olympics.
The 39-year-old superstar led Team USA to a 98-87 win over France in the final, securing his third Olympic gold medal.
James, who also earned MVP honors for the tournament, described the team in a post-game interview.
When asked to compare the team to past squads like the Dream Team or the Redeem Team, James chose “The Avengers.”
The label reflects the assembly of a powerful roster aimed at redeeming USA Basketball after a fourth-place finish at the 2023 FIBA World Cup.
“We got our moment. This is what we wanted. We didn’t like the way we played last summer, so we put together this team very fast,” LeBron said, via Ben Golliver.
