Seven-time Formula 1 World Champion Lewis Hamilton paid a heartfelt tribute to PETRONAS on what marked his final visit to Malaysia as a driver for the Mercedes-AMG PETRONAS Formula One Team. The emotional farewell took place at the iconic PETRONAS Twin Towers in Kuala Lumpur, where Hamilton was met by over 1,000 PETRONAS employees and legions of devoted fans.

During his visit, the 39-year-old driver expressed gratitude for PETRONAS’ unwavering support since the inception of their partnership in 2010. Hamilton highlighted the Malaysian energy company’s pivotal role in his record-breaking career, which saw unparalleled success in Formula 1.

A Fond Goodbye at the PETRONAS Twin Towers

The Twin Towers event served as a poignant celebration of the 12-year partnership between PETRONAS and Hamilton. Lewis shared memories of his first visit to the landmark, reflecting on how far the partnership had come:

“I remember the first time I came to PETRONAS’ Twin Towers in Kuala Lumpur after seeing it in movies, and I couldn’t believe I was here, working with such an incredible organisation. I’m so proud to be part of a partnership that has become one of the most successful in the history of the sport. These 12 years have been unforgettable—through the highs and lows, we’ve always felt like a family.”

Hamilton also reminisced about the milestones achieved on and off the track. From advancing cutting-edge racing technology to meaningful community initiatives, their collaboration transcended motorsport.

Celebrating with Fans

The visit culminated in a special fan event at a 3,000-capacity exhibition hall organised by PETRONAS. Malaysian fans gathered to celebrate their hero, with Hamilton expressing deep appreciation for their enduring support.

“It’s always so humbling to come here and feel the warmth of the Malaysian fans. It’s grown over time, and I’ve been honoured to support PETRONAS in initiatives that benefit the community—whether planting mangroves, inspiring young people in STEAM education, or supporting the growth of PETRONAS University. I will miss this family and everything we’ve built together.”
