Man United could make a move to sign Gent left-back, Archie Brown, as they look to solve their woes in that position.
Manchester United have many gaping holes within the squad to plug before the start of the season. If we’re being honest with ourselves, there’s probably too much work to undertake in one window.
Among the positions of need is left-back. Tyrell Malacia is still injured as concern around the Dutchman continues to grow. Luke Shaw will always pick up niggling injuries, too. The Reds need a consistent back-up option in that area of the field.
Today, HITC throw a new name into the mix; Archie Brown.
According to their information, United have added the 22-year-old to their list of full-back targets this summer. The former Derby County man currently plays his football for Gent in Belgium.
United’s part-owners INEOS signed Brown for Swiss side FC Laussane in 2021, which led to his move to Gent.
According to HITC, INEOS have kept ‘close tabs’ on the player since his FC Laussane days and they’ve now put Brown’s name forward to the footballing department as a possible signing.
Brown made 44 appearances for the Belgium side last season, which is encouraging as United need someone who can stay fully fit for the duration of the season.
The Reds may not have it all their own way in the pursuit of Brown, with Chelsea also said to have watched the left-back in recent months.
With money believed to be tight at United, a cheaper option like Brown could be the way to go. He’d be a risk-free signing who can fill in as and when needed. He also has tremendous upside, with Brown being someone who could make that left-back slot his own in the years to come.
