Man United are said to be relaxed about Kobbie Mainoo and his current contract situation.
Kobbie Mainoo’s rise to stardom has happened overnight. I think we all knew how talented the young Manchester United midfielder was, though we’d be lying to ourselves if we thought he’d be this impressive so early on.
Four months. That’s all it took for Mainoo to solidify himself in the United side, to earning his first England start. The teenager has been an instant hit. He’s now the talk of the town, for both club and country.
As a result, there have been recent suggestions claiming that a new contract is in the offing for young Kobbie. It would make sense. United always prefer to reward their emerging talents sooner rather than later.
However, the Manchester Evening News believe United are in ‘no rush’ over signing the starlet to a new contract, claiming the club remain ‘relaxed’ about the situation.
Mainoo signed a deal in 2023 that’ll keep him at the club until at least 2028, hence, the Reds have the midfielder firmly locked down and they remain in complete control of the situation.
That said, discussions are already ongoing with Mainoo, though an agreement is not a ‘current focus’ of the club at this point in time.
At the end of the day, it will come. At this point in time, the midfielder can focus solely on his football, finishing out the season strong, before potentially heading to Germany for EURO 2024.
Quite frankly, Mainoo has his mind focused on other things right now, though I fully expect his agents and representatives will be working hard for an increased wage for their client in the not-too-distant future. He’d certainly deserve it.
