Man United could announce Joshua Zirkzee as their first signing today, though he will not make his debut for several weeks.

Things are moving extremely quickly in regard to Manchester United’s move to acquire Joshua Zirkzee. Earlier today, we learned that the striker was already having his medical.

Now, the Manchester Evening News have provided further update, claiming that United could announce the signing of Zirkzee as early as today.

The Reds have agreed a fee with Bologna, with Zirkzee, who scored twelve goals last season, set to become United’s first major addition of the summer.

The Old Trafford club have actually decided to pay slightly more than Zirkzee’s £34m release clause, in order to negotiate a structure of payment that suits United slightly better.

Zirkzee’s international commitments are now over for the summer, hence why this transfer is accelerating rapidly.

Sadly, it’s not all good news for United. Zirkzee will be made to wait for his Red Devils debut, with the 23-year-old unavailable to feature in at least the first four games. It is unclear whether he will link up with the squad for the South Carolina leg of the tour.

This is a great signing. United need help for Rasmus Hojlund. Zirkzee brings a different skill set to the dressing room, meaning the two forwards should complement each other extremely well.

Hopefully, Zirkzee enjoys his holiday, before coming to Manchester, ready to work hard and prove exactly why he deserves this place in the Red Devils squad.

I am super excited to see how he gets on. I’d like to think we will see him on pre-season tour at some point, in order for the player to start to build a rapport with his new teammates.
