Man United are looking to sit down and secure the future of Amad with a new long-term contract.

Manchester United have never shied away from giving youth a chance. If you’re good enough, you’re old enough.

Erik ten Hag has continued that mantra, with both Alejandro Garnacho and Kobbie Mainoo establishing themselves as first-team regulars. This time around, it’s Amad’s moment in the spotlight.

The Ivory Coast winger has been at the club for a fair while now. However, his development has happened a little slower than we all expected. This summer, Amad managed to stay healthy and fully partake in pre-season. That has definitely helped.

Now, the 20-time Premier League champions are looking to secure his future, with Amad’s current terms expiring next summer.

According to the Manchester Evening News, United are now ‘expected’ to offer the 22-year-old a new long-term contract following his impressive start to the season.

We shouldn’t fret too much, as United do have the option to extend his current terms by a further year if they so choose.

If no new deal is agreed and the year extension clause isn’t activated, Amad would be able to talk to overseas clubs about signing on a pre-contract from January onwards.

Understandably, United are keen to avoid that situation and are ready to sit down with Amad over the ‘coming months’ in order to discuss terms and possibly conclude a new long-term deal.

Amad deserves it. He’s now made that leap into the first-team and he’s earned himself another few years at Old Trafford. I honestly believe he should be among the first names on the team sheet given recent form and he should only continue to improve as that exposure to regular minutes continues.

Hopefully, a deal with Amad can be agreed in the not too distant future.
