Man United will not have it all their own way in the race to sign Joao Neves from Benfica.
For the last twelve months or so, Manchester United have been consistently linked with a move to sign Joao Neves from Benfica.
The Portugal teenager has emerged as one of the best in the business, showcasing his talent for both club and country over the last year.
United have been close to the front of the queue for Neves, without really making a solid move to bring in the player. That’s largely due to his asking price of well over £80million.
Now, French media outlet Le10Sport claim that United face competition in the race to sign the midfield ‘prodigy’. It comes from Paris Saint-Germain.
The Ligue 1 side are looking likely to lose Manuel Ugarte this summer (maybe even to United), and they’re looking to replace his minutes with Neves.
PSG will have plenty of money to spend after losing Kylian Mbappe to Real Madrid, so the financial aspect of this transfer will not be an option.
It’s stated that the European giants will go ‘all out’ for the transfer of Neves, which could spell trouble for United.
You’d have to believe that PSG are now firmly in the driver’s seat for this signing. They have more money. They have Champions League football on the table. They’re also a guaranteed source of trophies for Neves.
United are in the middle of a rebuild. Will Neves want to be a part of that? I guess the only tactic United have is their Portuguese contingent. Both Diogo Dalot and Bruno Fernandes will no doubt be in Neves’ ear about making the move to Manchester if the opportunity arises.
