Man United could now be without Manuel Ugarte for the Brentford game on Saturday.

Manchester United have been dealing with major injury concerns pretty much throughout the Erik ten Hag era.

The Dutchman has been working with one hand tied behind his back throughout his tenure, though it’s unclear whether it’s just bad luck or if there’s something more to it than that.

United could be forced into playing Jonny Evans at left-back this weekend already and now, the midfield injury woes could be about to grow…

According to Manchester World, United have been handed another fresh fitness concern ahead of the game this weekend, with Manuel Ugarte now a doubt…

The defensive midfielder impressed against Ecuador while playing for Uruguay on Tuesday night, though was brought off in the 82nd minute with what is being described as a ‘fitness issue’.

The 23-year-old came off with the help of the Uruguay medical team. Ugarte is now expected to fly back to Manchester today, before being assessed by the Reds’ staff.

The problems appear to be ever-mounting at this stage in the season, with United going into the Brentford game with doubts about many first-team regulars.

In midfield, this could carve out an opening for Ugarte’s fellow South American, Casemiro, who is looking for a way back into the line-up after being dropped.

With Kobbie Mainoo also doubtful, we could see a very different midfield take to the turf here, which is less than ideal given how strong Brentford have looked in that area of the field to begin this campaign.

No doubt we’ll hear more from Ten Hag on the fitness of Ugarte during his pre-match press conference on Friday.
