Man United are said to have started dialogue with Juventus, over a potential move to sign Adrien Rabiot.
Manchester United Football Club are still miles away from the best teams this country has to offer right now. Sir Jim Ratcliffe will be looking to close that gap sooner rather than later, though it’s obviously easier said than done.
The INEOS man, who now controls footballing operations at Old Trafford, will be hoping to hit the ground running this summer, while sending out a positive message to the fans.
One area that needs work is midfield. Today, a new (but familiar name) has been thrown back into the mix; Adrien Rabiot.
The Frenchman is pretty much linked with a Reds transfer very single summer, so why not continue that trend yet again…?
Its TEAMtalk who relay information from CalcioMercato, claiming that United have ‘initiated talks’ with Juventus over the signing of the 29-year-old midfielder on a free transfer.
The player’s current deal expires this summer, while talks with Juventus have stalled. That has placed European clubs on ‘red alert’, including United.
United were linked with a Rabiot move last summer, though that deal obviously didn’t happen. Now, United could look to take another glance at the World Cup winner.
If I was Sir Jim Ratcliffe, I’d be very careful here. There’s a good chance that Rabiot is using United to earn himself a better deal at Juventus. He has previous for doing exactly this, and in discussions with the Reds, he’d ask for an extortionate weekly wage as he never really wanted to move to Manchester.
For that reason and that alone, I’d walk away almost instantly. With the absolute greatest of respects to Rabiot, I’d probably look elsewhere as the club look to sort out their midfield woes.
