Man United are seemingly pushing hard to sign Dani Olmo from RB Leipzig.
Manchester United Football Club need a big summer transfer window. Sir Jim Ratcliffe and INEOS will be looking to make a positive first impression, though with money tight, that may be easier said than done.
New players are needed in multiple positions, with the transfer stories now starting to ramp up as we head towards a massively important period for United. Several names have been linked, while today, another new face has been thrown into the mix; Dani Olmo.
It’s Mundo Deportivo (via Sport Witness) with the latest information on that front. Apparently, United are now among the sides considering making a move for the man from Spain.
At this point, Barca appear to be the current frontrunners, after a meeting with Olmo and his agents last week. MD adds that the Catalan side are not the only interested party.
According to the report, United have a ‘serious interest’ in signing the 25-year-old midfielder, while around £52m (60m euro) is enough to get the deal done due to a release clause in Olmo’s current contract. Bayern Munich, Manchester City and another unnamed English club are also keen on him.
Only a handful of sides can afford these big money deals at the best of times, but the level of interest shows you just how highly thought of Olmo is as a player.
The problem for United could be the lack of Champions League football on the table, which is now an inevitability after a bad couple of weeks.
Basically, it now comes down to whether United can convince Olmo a move to Old Trafford is the best step for the next stage of his career. I have major concerns Olmo will believe in that…
