Man United have eyes on Palmeiras striker Thalys.
Manchester United’s squad could look drastically different at the start of next season. There may even be a new manager in charge of the Old Trafford club…
Whoever is in the dugout, money will have to be spent as the Reds look to strengthen the playing squad.
Among the needs for United is another attacker. Rasmus Hojlund cannot lead the line on his own. Anthony Martial has been absent for pretty much the whole campaign and the Frenchman’s minutes need replacing.
One name linked with filling that void is young Brazilian, Thalys.
Now, the Old Trafford side are once again credited with an interest in signing the 19-year-old attacker. This time, it comes from ESPN Brazil.
They state that United have already sent representatives to watch the player in action, with Thalys touted for a big future within the sport.
Thalys has ten goals and one assist in all competitions this season, which is impressive for a man so young.
Palmeiras would obviously prefer to keep ahold of the mega-talented youngster, though it’s often tough when the big boys from Europe start to come knocking.
I still maintain the belief that there’s no better place for a young player to learn his trade than here in Manchester. Thalys would be working with some of the best coaches in the business. Training with some of the best players regularly. Also, perhaps most importantly, being exposed to first-team football at the highest level. Make no mistake about it, he’d be given regular minutes from day one.
In terms of concerns, United haven’t got the best track record when it comes to signing Brazilians. Thalys would also likely cost a pretty penny.
Do you think a Man United move to sign Thalys would make sense? Let us know your thoughts in the comment box below.
