Man United have eyes on Rennes midfielder, Desire Doue.

Manchester United, as a club, have always enjoyed more success when signing younger, lesser-known players, rather than splashing big cash on marquee signings. Perhaps it’s a pressure thing. Maybe the Reds just aren’t that great at identifying the right pieces.

INEOS and Sir Jim Ratcliffe are expected to go back to basics, clear the decks and tighten the belts a little bit. Hence, I fully believe United will be looking at the cheaper options this time around, in an attempt to turn the tide back in the right direction.

Several unexpected transfer links have already made the headlines, while today, TBR Football throws another name into the mix; Desire Doue.

The young French-Ivorian currently plies his trade for Rennes in Ligue 1, with the attacking midfielder breaking through over the last couple of seasons.

Now, according to TBR Football’s latest information, United have the mega-talented 18-year-old on their transfer radar, with the Reds ready to ‘compete’ for his signature.

The problem? Arsenal, Barcelona, Napoli, Atletico Madrid and Borussia Dortmund are also keen on bringing in Doue.

The midfielder has emerged as one of the best prospects within European football, as United have been watching Doue ‘closely’.

Bringing in teenagers like Doue has the benefit of the player coming in without any real pressure to start games and succeed from minute one. He’d be given time to develop at his own pace, and handed minutes precisely when he’s ready to make that leap. If it doesn’t work out, fine. There’s very little risk involved.

The issue here is interest from other clubs. United is no longer the prime destination for these emerging starlets. As soon as a Champions League side shows significant interest in bringing him in, the Reds have no chance whatsoever at getting a deal done.

Do you think a Man United move to sign Desire Doue would make sense? Let us know your thoughts in the comment box below.
