Man United have eyes on Girona left-back, Miguel Gutierrez.

Manchester United probably need a new back four at this point. The injuries have been too much for Erik ten Hag to handle and consistently put up with.

Left-back is arguably the biggest need. Tyrell Malacia hasn’t played once this season, while you always know Luke Shaw is going to pick up small injuries that will derail his campaign.

Hence, links to bring in a new left-sided defender make an awful lot of sense. Today’s story comes from Give Me Sport and they believe the Old Trafford side are keen on bringing in Miguel Gutierrez.

In their headline, GMS state that United are ‘looking closely’ at signing the 22-year-old left-back.

Apparently, United are ‘keeping tabs’ on the young Spaniard, and ‘could look’ to make a move for the defender this summer, despite the fact United are aware that two big rivals are also keen on a move for Gutierrez.

The defender has earned ‘rave reviews’ from United’s recruitment department, with the left-back now on the wishlist of the club – regardless of who the manager is going into the 2024/25 season.

Gutierrez has to be one of many signings this summer, though the worry is that this club has too much work to do in one transfer window. Sir Jim Ratcliffe has already hinted that it’s going to take time for United to return to the top, but getting younger and adding a player like the Girona man would be a good start.

It’s all about bringing in the right profile of player, and at the right price, though that’s far easier said than done.

Do you think a Man United move to sign Miguel Gutierrez would make sense? Let us know your thoughts in the comment box below.
