Man United are now looking to push ahead with a deal to sign Noussair Mazraoui, with the signing now edging closer…

Manchester United Football Club have made two key signings, though all had gone relatively quiet on the incoming transfer front ever since the Leny Yoro deal was signed and sealed. That’s probably due to the fact the Reds are now in a position where they have to sell before they can buy.

Right-back is another area that the Old Trafford side would like to address, though it is dependent on Aaron Wan-Bissaka being sold first. ‘The Spider’ is being heavily linked with a move to sign for West Ham United.

Replacing arguably the best 1v1 defender in the world is not going to be easy. Erik ten Hag is looking to surround himself with more familiarity in the form of Noussair Mazraoui. The man from Morocco knows this system well, while his versatility is also beneficial.

Journalist Santi Aouna has been all over this rumour since the start, while this morning, he has provided an encouraging update for the Red Devils.

According to his latest information, United’s move to sign the 26-year-old is ‘almost a done deal’ with Aouna claiming Mazraoui ‘will join’ United. Bayern Munich have authorised the transfer, while his Reds medical is booked for Tuesday.

Check out Santi Aouna’s X post on the news here:

Mazraoui has been keen to make this move happen and it does look like the Moroccan is about to be granted his wish. The full-back will sign a contract until 2029, with Ten Hag looking to get the deal done so that the defender can play in the Community Shield.

The positive thing about Mazraoui is the fact that he can start on either side. He’d be predominantly signed as a right-back, though we’ve seen that injury issues to both Luke Shaw and Tyrell Malacia are now always expected, meaning the club does need extra cover in that left-back position.

No doubt Mazraoui will be given plenty of minutes over the upcoming season, purely due to that versatility.

Let’s hope the deal is made official sooner rather than later.
