Man United have named a young-looking 29-man squad for the US leg of their 2024/25 pre-season tour.

Manchester United have played a couple of pre-season games so far. One win and one loss. As the senior members of the squad start to return in dribs and drabs following their international exploits, Erik ten Hag will be feeling more and more confident.

This weekend, the Reds play their first game in the United States, with a 29-man squad now named by the United gaffer for their few matches over in America. It’s a youthful-looking side, including hot prospects like Ethan Wheatley, Toby Collyer and Maxi Oyedele.

Seeing these younger guys in action is exactly why I get so buzzed to watch these tour games. It’s a real glimpse into the future of this club and sometimes, these players perform so well that the gaffer has no choice but to utilise them sooner.

Check out the tour squad in full here:

Goalkeepers: Heaton; Mee; Onana; Vitek. Defenders: Amass; Bennett; Evans; Fish; Lindelof; Maguire; Murray; Wan-Bissaka; Yoro. Midfielders: Casemiro; Collyer; Eriksen; Hannibal; Fletcher; Mather; McTominay; Mount; Oyedele; Scanlon. Forwards: Antony; Amad; Hojlund; Rashford; Sancho; Wheatley.

Senior faces like Rasmus Hojlund, Antony, Christian Eriksen and Marcus Rashford have now returned to action and this is an excellent chance for these guys to get some minutes under the belt ahead of the serious stuff starting next month.

I am most excited about watching Collyer again. He looked right at home in that United midfield and I genuinely believe he has a part to play this season. Thankfully, Ten Hag agrees. I’ll also be keeping a watchful eye on Mason Mount, who absolutely needs to stay fit if he’s to start silencing his doubters.

You feel like we’re approaching the last chance saloon for players like Hannibal and Antony. A big pre-season for both could well change the stigma surrounding these guys.

Hopefully, the lads can do well, build up the fitness and win some games to instil confidence.
