Man United are looking to tie Bendito Mantato down to a new contract.

Manchester United have always excelled when it comes to building around younger players. Marquee signings have tended to struggle in Manchester, hence, it’s best to utilise the outstanding academy at Erik ten Hag’s disposal.

You look at Kobbie Mainoo and Alejandro Garnacho as the crowning jewels in that regard right now, though many others are looking to follow suit. The likes of Shea Lacey and Bendito Mantato could be next in line.

The latter finds himself in the headlines at the moment, in regard to his United contract.

According to Fabrizio Romano, United ‘have offered’ a new deal to the 16-year-old starlet, which would include a potential pact for a future pro contract for Mantato.

The ball is now in Mantato’s court, with the player ‘conisdering’ the proposal. However, he will not be short of interest, with many ‘important’ clubs keen on signing him on a free transfer, while paying minimal compensation to United.

Check out Fabrizio Romano’s tweet on the news here:

Yes, I’m biased. However, it feels like an obvious decision for Mantato. Where better to hone your talent and earn first team minutes than Old Trafford? It’s a club that has never shied away from giving younger players their opportunity. That isn’t suddenly going to change.

Mantato, a talented winger, plays in a position where United have had very little production of late. He could view that as an opportunity and pathway into the Reds’ first-team, though it’s up to the young man to commit his future to the club first.
