Man United have seen their initial bid for Manuel Ugarte swiftly turned down by PSG.

Manchester United Football Club are yet to kickstart their summer transfer window with a signing – though it’s not for the want of trying.

INEOS and Sir Jim Ratcliffe are keen to curb the major spending, so perhaps we should have all expected a slower pace this time around.

Bids have been sent out, with an offer for Jarrad Branthwaite turned away by Everton a week or so ago. Over the last 24 hours, another Reds’ transfer offer has been knocked back.

This time around, it’s Manuel Ugarte. The man from Uruguay only appeared on the transfer radar just yesterday, with an offer sent in.

However, journalist Ben Jacobs has confirmed that United’s bid to sign the 23-year-old has been swiftly rejected by PSG. According to his sources, the bid ‘wasn’t close’ to PSG’s valuation of the player, while several parties remain interested in signing the midfielder.

Check out Ben Jacobs’ X post on the news here:

A defensive midfielder by trade, Ugarte is someone who could take up that Casemiro role, particularly as the Brazilian ended the season poorly, while also nursing injuries.

Ugarte only moved to PSG just last summer, meaning the FRench club are under absolutely no pressure at all to sell if they do not want to. As a result, it could take a lucrative offer to secure his signature.

Again, this was just an initial offer that was made by United. We’re unsure of the exact amount at this stage, but there is a feeling that the two parties are some way apart as things stand.
