Man United have eyes on Sporting Lisbon player, Viktor Gyokeres.
Manchester United Football Club have a forward line that’s going to change this summer. Anthony Martial is set to leave, while Jadon Sancho is also going to head out of the exit door. Then you have Antony who is underperforming.
The Reds need to find some forward help for Rasmus Hojlund, who cannot carry the striker burden all on his own.
Several names have been linked with filling that void while today, HITC throw another player into the mix; Viktor Gyokeres.
According to their information, United are ‘showing an interest’ in signing the 26-year-old striker, as the Reds look to find some help for Hojlund.
Apparently, United are ‘assessing’ a number of options, including Sporting CP’s Gyokeres, who has 36 goals in 43 games across all competitions this season.
The problem? Liverpool are also interested in signing the Sweden international. Leaving United in ‘fear’ that their fierce rivals could ‘scupper’ any potential move for Gyokeres.
I honestly think this could be one of those astute moves that United could make. Gyokeres is from a lesser-known league, meaning he’d have less pressure on his shoulders from day one.
United could hope to use their excellent working relationship with Sporting CP here. The clubs have been involved in many transfer dealings over the years, with the likes of Cristiano Ronaldo and Bruno Fernandes leading the way in terms of Portuguese success stories in Manchester.
It all comes down to what Gyokeres wants. Let’s hope Liverpool end the season without winning a major trophy, giving United that little bit better chance at signing the Swede this summer.
