Man United have confirmed the signing of Manuel Ugarte from PSG.
Manchester United spent the last few weeks of the transfer window chasing a new defensive midfielder. The Old Trafford club took it right down to the wire, though eventually, Manuel Ugarte was delivered.
The Red Devils confirmed the news late last night, with the Uruguayan man signing a five-year deal at the Theatre of Dreams.
Ugarte is being brought in to add more defensive stability to a midfield that has been inconsistent in that aspect over the last twelve months.
The 23-year-old won a league and cup double with PSG, which feels like the perfect way to exit the French side after just twelve months in the capital.
Ugarte then headed to the Copa America, playing every single minute for Uruguay and being named in the team of the tournament.

This young man comes to Manchester with great pedigree and hunger as Ugarte now looks to kick it up another notch by trying his hand in the most competitive league in the world.
In a deal that costs an initial £42m, United will be hoping to see some quick returns on Ugarte, though he will need time to get up to speed as he hasn’t played a single minute of football in over six weeks.
He will not feature against Liverpool as he wasn’t registered in time, though I hope he’s on the bench for the Southampton game in a fortnight, following the upcoming international break.
Ugarte seems buzzing to be here, while United could have unearthed an absolute gem of a footballer who’ll relish in that defensive midfield role. I’m super excited to see him play and I am holding out hope for an introduction to the Old Trafford crowd ahead of the Liverpool game on Sunday.
Welcome, Manuel!
