Man United could still cash in on Jadon Sancho this summer, if the Reds’ £40m asking price is met.

Manchester United Football Club have made two key signings this summer, as the Old Trafford side look to rebuild their squad from the ground up.

With money tight, there’s a general belief that the Red Devils will now have to sell some players before they can further invest in the playing squad.

One of the names heavily linked with an exit, up until about a week or so ago, was Jadon Sancho. Since then, the Englishman has kissed and made up with Erik ten Hag. He’s now currently on tour in the US with the rest of the senior squad.

However, the Daily Mail have provided an update on the winger’s future, claiming that there’s still a ‘feeling’ that United ‘will sell’ the 24-year-old of the £40m asking price is met.

Borussia Dortmund would be interested in signing Sancho, though they cannot afford his wages and the asking price. PSG are also keen.

United are suddenly pretty stacked in the wide areas, with Marcus Rashford, Alejandro Garnacho, Amad and Antony competing for two spots. Sancho could be one of the sacrifices made in order to strengthen in other positions instead.

The verdict

If we’re looking at it from a pure footballing perspective, has Sancho been good enough? Probably not. Factor in the off-field issues and it has been a disastrous move. Maybe it’s still best to let go of the Englishman, assuming a decent offer is made for his services.

I just doubt that any club with that sort of money is going to be willing to spend it on Sancho. He has not shown anywhere near enough quality to justify that price-tag.
