Turkish journalist Berat Kunt reports that Manchester United are prepared to trigger the €12 million release clause in Alvaro Morata’s contract with Atletico Madrid.

United are actively seeking a striker this summer to alleviate pressure on last year’s €85 million signing, Rasmus Hojlund. Manager Erik ten Hag aims to pair Hojlund with an experienced striker, viewing 31-year-old Morata as the ideal candidate for this role.

While Morata’s potential move may surprise many Premier League fans due to his challenging stint at Chelsea from 2017 to 2019, during which he scored only 24 goals in 72 games and faced criticism for his finishing, he has nevertheless enjoyed a successful career with top clubs such as Real Madrid, Juventus, and Atletico Madrid.

Juventus have also shown interest in re-signing Morata for what would be his third spell in Turin. Morata has expressed a desire to depart Atletico this summer, publicly airing frustrations about his role at the club.
